African Hand Carved Wood Bed from the Kingdom of Bamum, could also be spelled Bamoun, sometimes called Mumfrom (1394–1884) was a pre-colonial West African state in what is now northwest Cameroon. The Bamum are noted craftsmen. The men do embroidery, weaving, leather-work, wood carving, metalwork, and blacksmithing, and the women make pottery. Both men and women cultivate the land.
